MySQL Workbench Team Meeting Coming Up

After our MySQL Workbench 5.0 GA release and a hotfix release a week later it is time to start our efforts on the next releases. As many of you might already know, my team is highly distributed and when doing planning tasks it is always good to sit together in a single room. So we will be meeting in Kiev, Ukraine next week.We are going to discuss the progress we have already made on the Linux / OS X / Solaris ports but the main focus will be in the new features for the next main release.A big thank you to everybody who posted their ideas on the forum. If you have not posted yet you are welcome to do so. Everything that is submitted before next week will be considered.

  1. Please, give more priority to Linux / OS X /Solaris release 🙂 Even if the release for this platforms have much less features than the MSWindows version. We want/need/like/hope start to work in this incredible tool in our lovely platform. Thank’s for the effort 🙂

  2. Yes we will. The feature set will be the same on all platforms. We just need to get all platforms to the same level once. Then they will be maintained in parallel.

We are going to have a session about the Linux port tomorrow. The OS X port will be started in parallels once we have all the Back-End code compiling and passing all unit tests on Linux. We had Maksym working on the port for some time now but he was missing the module loader which required Alfredo’s assistance. Today he started coding on it. Once that is done Maksym can continue with the rest of the code.

  3. I’m happy to hear that the features will be the same on all platforms. I don’t want to have a crippled version like MySQL Query Browser for Linux.
